Description
Just a few miles from Page, Arizona the Colorado River makes this remarkable turn around colorful sandstone. Lake Powell and the Glenn Canyon Dam missed this remarkable place when the Colorado was dammed at Page, Arizona. This often photographed location makes it a challenge for the photographer to add anything new to the scene. By using a very wide angle lens, but not a fisheye, the immediate forground and the Vermillion Cliffs can be seen clearly. Here, waiting for softer light helps to give an intimate feeling to such a grand space. Care must be taken while visiting this site as the cliff does indeed end abruptly at the river's edge.

Like 20 million other photographers, you and I stood on the exact same spot; except your timing is much better than mine. It seems you photographed this in the morning light; I was there at sunset and night time and the lighting was not as helpful as I had expected it (harsh sun right in front of me). I'm planning a return to this entire area hoping for better shots next time. Beautiful photography Bob.
