Hi Bob. Your bird is a Black-bellied Plover (Grey Plover) - Pluvialis squatarola. The general structure, being rather plump and squat, the big stubby bill, long (but not too long) legs, and short primary projection all indicate this species. Hope this helps :-)

I am more an opportunistic photographer than a true birder. I checked it in a bird book earlier but will look again at the Plover...I appreciate the comment...Cheers Bob
