Description
A long necked woman is shown as a portrait in Thailand. I must admit that I had some pre-conceived ideas about the subject of Long-necked women. Any images that I had previously seen did nothing to dispel my bias on the subject. Once I entered the village I was astounded how beautiful these women were. I did not expect this... These women would no doubt be beautiful without the neck alterations but I admit that they are unique and interesting. All of the girls and women I photographed were gracious with their smiles and their wonderful clear skin and eyes. An interesting cultural event for me and one I am pleased that I had an opportunity in Thailand to witness and photograph.

This is so interesting and SO beautiful! I love the warmth of the colors here....and I love thinking about wearing such neckware, I assume for beauty...so interesting what cultures do in the name of 'beauty!'....fv

Hi Karen...Historically the rings were originally to protect the women from bites from tigers...Thank you very much for your nice comment and your compliment on my image...Cheers Bob
